Lake Tesero – The Stelle Olimpiche Team showed up at the starting line of the Marcialonga Stars marathon, a snowshoe race which is sponsored annually by the Italian League for the Fight Against Cancer.
The VIP-dedicated competition anticipated the classic technique Marcialonga marathon that will see the participation of more than 7500 athletes coming from all over Europe; it has a 70km track through the valleys of the Dolomites. Gabriella Paruzzi, captain of the six athletes representing the Team, winner of the 2004 Marcialonga race and Olympic multi-medalist, was followed by Giovanna Micol, sailing champion representing Italy in London 2012, Giulia Pignolo, Larissa Nevierov, by Roman pentathlete Alessia Pieretti and by the Spanish Laia Tutzo.
All the girls faced this new challenge with the right amount of enthusiasm, as this was their very first snowshoeing for Lilt, an organization which promotes cancer prevention through an equilibrate lifestyle, a healthy diet and daily exercise.
Laia Tutzo, Spanish yachtswoman, technical Director of sailing in the Cataluña region and this year in the Dolomites for the first time, said: ”I like our team spirit, but I also liked getting acquainted with winter sports and seeing so many people who live cross-country skiing as an authentic passion”.
The Marcialonga Stars race, thanks to the guests who were present during the competition, has made a significant contribution to the gathering of funds intended to finance Lilt and support other institutional activities, such as the Lilt Prevention and Rehab Center and the Lilt Reception Center.
